What Is Azelaic Acid?
Azelaic acid, a substance extracted from azaleas, is often used as a cosmetic ingredient. It is an organic compound with the formula HOOC(CH2)7COOH. It is a precursor to a variety of industrial products, including polymers, plasticizers, and commonly used cosmetic ingredients. Most azelaic acid is used in the production of dioctyl azelaic acid (DOZ) plasticizer, others are used as spices, lubricants, oils, polyamide resins. DOZ is used for cable, film, artificial leather and other cold resistance increase plastic, small volatility, aging resistance. DOZ can also be used as a softener for synthetic rubber.
