Resveratrol exists in two isoforms, cis and trans, and these two isoforms also exist in the form of glycosides, that is, combined with glucose. The trans form of resveratrol is more effective than the cis form. The higher biological activity of the trans form is due to the lower steric hindrance of the alternative in this form than the alternative in the cis form.
