Carbomer 940 is a generic name for synthetic high molecular weight polymers of acrylic acid used as thickening, dispersing, suspending and emulsifying agents in and cosmetics. They may be homopolymers of acrylic acid, crosslinked with an allyl ether pentaerythritol, allyl ether of sucrose or allyl ether of propylene. Insen Carbomers are found in the market as white and fluffy powders. They have the ability to absorb, retain water and swell to many times their original volume. Carbomers codes (910, 934, 940, 941 and 934P) are an indication of molecular weight and the specific components of the polymer .

Carbomer model:
The numbers behind the carbomer model represent the viscosity model. Carbomer is composed of repeated structural units of acrylic acid, and the polymer chain is cross-linked with allyl sucrose or allyl pentaerythritol. Carbomer 940
INCI name: Carbomer
Carbomer 940 is a cross-linked polyacrylate polymer. It is an extremely efficient rheological modifier, which can produce extremely high viscosity and form Crystal Bright and transparent water-based or water-alcohol gel and cream.
Carbomer 940 has the characteristic of short process (no dripping), which is very suitable for transparent gel, water alcohol gel, cream and other applications. Kabom U10 polymer and kabom U21 have similar properties, but their application range is wider and easier to disperse.
